Roland Dyens' Tuesday recital in Playa del Rey is unfortunately sold out, although you could call and check for returns; he's also giving two master classes on Wednesday in Anaheim and Santa Ana. On Friday the young French prize-winner and former Ponce student Laurine Phélut will play in Cal State Fullerton's "Guitarists of the World" series, and again on Saturday at Northridge in the AGS "International Concert Series". Also on Friday evening, Matthew Elgart performs at Cal Poly Pomona. Then on Sunday evening in Oak Park is an event which sounds intriguing, a performance by the "Los Angeles Electric 8", a group of classically trained musicians in an electric guitar ensemble.
